Mission Statement

Founded just three years ago in 2017, Rutgers Rocket Propulsion Lab is a collegiate rocketry team working toward one main goal: space shot. What exactly is a space shot? Well, the project aims to launch a rocket into the boundary of space. That’s 62 miles, 330,000 feet, or 100 kilometers. You may be thinking, how does a group of college students get there?

Looking back at the absolute beginning of it, our university introduced Aerospace Engineering as an offered program in 2016. Students envisioned a place where they could take their new-found and growing knowledge, then transform it into something tangible. Thus, RRPL was born. And with time, the goal of RRPL became to push the boundaries of collegiate rocketry in the pursuit of reaching space.

Our team has grown from an initial small circle of dreamers to many multi-talented individuals all focused, oriented, and driven to overcome each hurdle in our path.

Along the way, we have both met and worked with wonderful people. From giving us gas while stranded on the New Mexican highway to keeping machine shops and Makerspaces open long after hours, we have been moved forward by their kindness, generosity, and belief in the crazy goal of a “bunch of college kids.”

Through this blog, we hope to bring you along on our journey from the past, in the present, and towards our future. Per aspera ad astra- Through hardships to the stars.

-Rutgers RPL
